Sony needed it to announce Home, since they were getting so much crap about how bad the PS3 was. They needed a comeback. Also, remember E3 last year? The big announcement---SSBB---didn't even come during the speech. It came the next day, and that's when everyone freaked out.
True, I didn't really expect any big announcements either, but it certainly would have been interesting to here a bit more about what could be done with the Wii and the Wiimote instead of just hearing (well, reading) talk about Wii Sports and Miis, which we after all already know well enough. The keynote talked a lot about the past and almost not at all about the actual future of the Wii and DS.
"Sony pwned the Miis yesterday"Yeah, their Home thing looks nice, but Mii's don't require micropayments for your fake clothes, and fake music collection, and fake furniture.
Except that even at it's free level the new home system from PS3 far surpasses the mii system. I'm sorry after Sony's amazing keynote yesterday this one was just a real letdown. Online was not even mentioned and all we got for our trouble was a new mario galaxy video and some popularity contest mii thing. I for one have lost some faith in the direction nintendo is taking a console that has the possibility to be the most successful machine in gaming history.
All this talk about Nintendo and stocks is just a bunch of bulls**t. Just admit that you have nothing to show to the developers. How hard is that? GDC was Nintendo chance to reveal their online plan to the developers. So why is Nintendo getting the free pass?
We're not saying that they don't announce stuff...but they aren't obligated to release anything if they don't want to. It would make more sense to announce new products, etc at E3...not GDC.

That's b/c Nintendo never said announcements would be done during Miyamoto's keynote...people just ASSUMED that it would happen at that time.
