linux-foundation.org — For those that decry the constant prediction of the ?year of the Linux desktop? I am happy to say that next year Linux may actually ship on more desktops than Windows or the Mac. That is right, I said next year. What is driving this? Two words: fast boot.

This is just stupid...Linux has 1% market share at best. the only way Linux is shipping more than Windows is if the machines are coming out of little jimmys basement.stupid and mis-informed

You said it correctly.. "cheapy" linux boxes, which they exactly were that CHEAP! In computer terms, a lot of those cheap computers with Linux on them.. were cheap.. slow processors because Linux can run on them.. Low amount of ram that Linux can run on them.. Problem was that people bought them in the hopes they can run Windows on them. When they couldn't get windows to run, they returned it. At Fry's it was always the same. People bought the cheap GQ's running Linux and always said they were going to wipe Linux and install a copy of Windows they had.. These machines ran great with Linux on them, but were always returned because Windows wasn't running great on them.

I don't see this happening. Only a few weeks ago I saw an article about Microsoft thinking about also offering the fast boot option which means that see that they will just create their own version if they see a market for it.I just hope that this will get more common and than I would be in the position to choose between Microsoft or Linux for the fast boot.

"And then there's all that sales tax revenue the Government would miss out on."That's an example of the broken window fallacy. The government would not miss out on any sales tax, as the money saved in one area would be used for something else, which would also incur sales taxes.

Yes my Linux box does all off the above. And from using any type of Win. box, Linux is actually easier in my opinion. Ignorance is a curse isn't it?

Sounds like a great new feature for Win. 7
