To me, it is pretty simple. 1- These stories point out the flexibility of Linux. The fact remains that Linux is a very flexible platform.2- Getting Linux to run on hardware like this creates the opportunity to do things with the hardware that the original hardware manufacturer never intended.
If you buy crippled technology, you will pay the people that make cripple technology to make more crippled technology. If you guys want to show manufacturers that making crippled technology is not only legally easier, but you will pay for it, then you'll get what you deserve. As for the guy who doesn't trust strangers to contribute to the code (of the GPL'd Linux kernel), and doesn't want anyone to "steal his work" (on a GPL software he claims he'll release), he might be able to sell that to the sort of f**kheads who will buy, and *defend the behaviour of* DRM crippleware if you read their forum, but wouldn't anyone with a mind of their own smell a rat there?Hmmm.
I am excited simply because I own a Zune and it is one of the greatest things I've ever bought for myselfUnlike many others, I am not paranoid about giving money to a company that simply deserves it for it's long years of support and it's numerous acheivementsWho CARES if Microsoft is rich, are you jealous? Are you jealous that you can't accomplish what Microsoft did? That's too bad for you, then. Until you convince me Microsoft deserves nothing from me, I'll keep buying their products if they're woth it, and the Zune is definately worth it!

Yeah, linux can run on anything with a CPU and memory, but to be running on something Microsoft made makes it funny.
