"Is that because media centre functionality on PS3 is a little bit s**tty?"No, it's because PS3 lets you install whatever app you want for a media center instead of being limited to proprietary stuff that can only play one file.

Dude....wtf"Restrictions" play no part in someone not developing their own MC for windows. Its just that if you were going to pay for a windows license for your media pc in the first place then why not use MCE?Check out Media Portal. Its a free MC suite for windows and has plenty of fancy screen transitions and looks very nice. The only problem is that it is kinda unstable, either that or the PC I have it on is a piece of s**t.. that is probably it. Once Myth looks nicer I will go back to it. I just got sick of how s**tty it looks on SDTV.

BUT, I ran into some trouble yesterday right on the first step of installing uBuntu! Here's my problem, it would be awesome if a friendly digger can be of assistance: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2350117&postcount=43

If everything is truly automagic then why don't they sell it as a commercial product?

Let me know when it works with the best analog tv tuner out there, ati's theater 550/650. I already have one and I don't want to downgrade to inferior hardware in order to use linux. The same theme on Russian sites: http://pivo.in.ua http://www.alcogol.kiev.ua
