what does any of this have to do with fact checking? but ok here you go:fact #1: a paper that uses historical context to tell a story.fact #2: on on-air personality that uses that as an excuse to make a song that parodies barak's african american side, completely void of historical context.hmmmmm
@ theblooms jcm267I don't think things are all equal here. Firstly, the article actually fleshes out the concept of the "magic negro" and gives you some background into what it's all about. Rush's song gives no incite into where the term originates and the vocals in the song sound like they are straight out of the days of Bosco and Sambo. Also Rush is much more well known than someone who writes for the opinion section of the LA times. With fame comes extra responsibility. Ask around the streets how many folks have heard of David Ehrenstein. Compare that to the number of people who know of Rush or Imus.
What? Why are you so interested in pricks and balls? Is this typical of Rush Limbaugh supporters? Your lame insult is laughable, especially considering you're probably an effeminate sissy who fantasizes about "fyredragons" and fairies and lives in his mother's basement. Grow your own.
I guess you probably don't see what all the fuss was about segregation, slavery, and lynchings too. I'm sure the song is hilarious, when gathered around a flaming cross wearing your pointy white hood.
