Who says we can afford that either?Why don't we look at what medicare/medicaid, one of the biggest causes of elevated health care costs, has done to the industry-- and try and bring down costs before we try to start to pay for everyone?Furthermore, if it is "nothing more than a non-profit insurance plan administered by the government", then go form a non-profit. Apply for government grants. Get donation funding. But GTFO my government.

Wow...you actually work 40hrs a week..man you know how to impress a person. So, what is this"jacks**t" statement. I do well for myself because I workhard and paid my way through school. There were times I had to buy my own insurance. There were times I decided I didn't want to pay for insurance. But never in my wildest dreams would I feel I should have my next door neighbor "so to speak" pay it for me. Also I am glad you thought I had a nice argument. P.S. troll is not to P.C. these days. Because he caucuses with them and without a "friend" you can't get anything done in the Senate, if the Senators play hardball. The Republicans understand this, thus you won't even see Snowe vote against a filibuster of her party.
