thinkprogress.org — Lieberman blasted the majority of his Senate colleagues who have voted to begin a phased withdrawal from Iraq. Lieberman said, ?I say to them?you ought to be fighting to cut the funding off instead of entering into a kind of harassment that?s involved now.? He said Bush?s escalation plan ought to go forward ?without us back biting."

It's all about Jewish. If you want to fight for Israel go there now! USA, after all, is a different country, don't fool us and we know what you're talking about and what you really mean.

So free speech is called harassment now?

Five Hours Later...Well, when people are called out on their hypocritical acts, they tend to just fold, and disappear.Would have been nice if you cared enough about what you said, when you called me ignorant, to actually follow up on your statements.I'll accept your silence on this as just more coward and hypocrite running away when challenged, ok?

Joe Lieberman, once VP Democrat candidate, was thrown overboard by the liberal extremists at KOS yet democrats expect Joe to toe the party line? They are drinking the kool-aid again I see. Joe refused to cut-and-run in the last election. I'm not surprised that he refuses to run from the WOT. He is acting like a man of character. Ain't it a bitch?

mikeleiman:To start, I want to correct my last comment- the Senator's diligence about prayer did not last just during his shiva (the seven days following the death on a close relative), but his entire year of aveilut (a full year following the death of a close relative).Okay- to the issue at hand- you may interpret my silence however you please. You would advised, however, to be a bit more patient as some people here, despite their love for digg, do other things too. I get the sense from the way you express yourself that you are a bit of a wacko, but it doesn't cost me anything to respond- so here goes. First, the question is not what is acceptable according to your mother, father, and rabbi. The question is whether you understand enough about halachah to realize that there can be differences of opinion without one side calling the other unobservant. As you probably know, many well respected rabbis believe owning a computer is halachicaly forbidden. I assume that you disagree with them. I also assume you would think them fools if they called you unobservant as a result. Second, halacha provides a number of basis for permiting Senator Lieberman to vote and debate on Shabbat. To keep things simple- look at the shulchan aruch at siman shin-vav (chapter 306) and the Mishna Berura simman shin-vav, sieph chaf-chet (chapter 306, note 28). It says very explicitly there that, when necessary, it is permitted to work for the public good on Shabbat. There is debate over exactly the types of things a public servant may do on Shabbat, but debating and voting are well within even the more strict rabbinic interpretations. Again, your mother, father, and local rabbi may not condone the Senator's doing such work on Shabbat. They are permitted- no, they are obligated- to follow their conscience. You, however, are an idiot if you believe that no one could legitimately interpret the Shulchan Aruch and the Mishna Berura to permit the Senator's shabbat activity. (For those who are unaware, the two sources I cited are THE authorities on ashkenazic jewish law. Anything that is written today about jewish law will use their holdings as a starting point)Third, I don't know where the Senator was on the date you specify. That you think you are scoring points against me with such stupidity makes me doubt you rationality. Fourth, if you are going to respond to this comment, please do so intelligently. Please don't tell me what you BELIEVE is halachic and please don't tell me about the things you were taught in pre-school. I understand that you may differ with my opinion. That is fine. But please don't tell me that anyone who disagrees with your interpretation is unobservant.
