nytimes.com — "For years, service was an afterthought for these companies because customers had little choice but to get their phone and cable services from what were effectively monopolies. On customer satisfaction surveys, phone and cable companies often rank even below the airlines"..things are changing, like putting on hospital 'booties' when they enter.

work for comcast, and we are trying some pilot program, where we have tech's that will work on computers with unspported problems, like spyware and stuff. Its still in the beta stage but costs $30 for a visit and it covers everything, i really disagree with this becuase we don't belong trying to compete with GeekSquad, its all about the $$ to evil corporations. So basically, we already have X of tech's that serve and area that we are already backed up on, and we are taking away tech's and making service calls further out for our problems to be fixed. Way to go comcast!

i agree. i work at comcast, and it seems like they just hire out of the unemployment office. "Ok we will take you, you, and you". And alot of reps and techs are just complete idiots.

Yay, another post gets modded to oblivion because I mentioned the link to an ad. Yes, moderators, my mind control machine is working perfectly. In fact, you will now digg this into oblivion as well.

Riiight. Service. Here is an idea for Time Warner Houston Road Runner, which I recently cancelled. Stop overselling your nodes and allowing your cable modem service to go down during prime time. Then, when I call your technical support 5 times in a row, don't tell me that its due to weather when its not raining, or even better - that its because there are a lot of car crashes in the area that somehow caused my service to not work every night between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M.Also, don't tell me that I am the only one experiencing the problem when I have spoken with numerous people who go through the same thing. After you fix all that, perhaps I will give kudos for using "booties."

Cox has always been pretty good with regard to service. Of course I pay the SAP charge except that I get my moneys worth. Not to mention the fact that some of the cable guys are, well, very handsome fellows. I bet the female customers just love that.

How about lowering the $50 I have to pay for something so outdated?
