Well, I guess I should've refreshed before I posted earlier... but it's really sad that he would just pick up and leave like that without waiting it out and actually understanding what happened with that UN post in Khiam. Maybe if he would read this article (which quotes a UN official's email):http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20060718/mideast_lebanon_UN_060716/20060718/Important part is:"This is all the information of a non-tactical nature that I can provide you. I cannot give you any info on Hezbollah position, proximity or the amount of or types of sorties the IAF is currently flying. Suffice to say that the activity levels and operational tempo of both parties is currently very high and continuous, with short breaks or pauses. Please understand the nature of my job here is to be impartial and to report violations from both sides without bias. As an Unarmed Military Observer, this is my raison d'etre. What I can tell you is this: we have on a daily basis had numerous occasions where our position has come under direct or indirect fire from both artillery and aerial bombing. The closest artillery has landed within 2 meters of our position and the closest 1000 lb aerial bomb has landed 100 meters from our patrol base. This has not been deliberate targeting, but has rather been due to tactical necessity.I thank you for the opportunity to provide you with some information from the front lines here in south Lebanon.Maj Hess-von Kruedener"
Yes, it does need people like Jani. People that stand up for what they think is right. People who are willing to look rationally at a gross injustice, and say "no more". The Israelis weren't so happy about genocide in the 1940s, it's quite sickening to see them this excited about it now. I wouldn't work for people who held these sorts of beliefs, and I don't blame him for quitting either. While he was clearly upset, it is understandable, when a countryman has been killed, and his killers are denying responsibility. And even worse to hear his employers voice support for these acts.
@retrofitme: >>3) Israel has provided more humanitarian support for the Palestinians than all the Arab nations combined. You don't see Saudi Arabia or Iran sending in relief efforts - but the Jews do. Watch the news and see who the medical workers are.If the jews are such humanitarians to the Palestinians, how come they have spent the last months witholding all monies taxed from the Palestinians. It's been a worldwide story, that Israel has withheld so much of the palestinian money that they are unable to even properly equip their hospitals. Killing a race of people is killing a race of people, nothing more. It doesn't matter which race is killing which other race. And it doesn't matter "who started it". It is what it is, and Israel long ago ceased to be anywhere close to innocent or humane.
Israel needs to invade Lebanon just as much as Seattle needs to grief its recent victims. This whole mess sounds like it's been designed by the same people who brought the down the towers, in a bid to convince us all to accept a One Government, One Bank (One Currency, One Search Engine??), One Military world. Condolezza Rice just said it yesterday, something on the line of "we need a military force with sufficient power to stop these 'atrocities' from happening". The Agenda is taking form right before our eyes!
jani's public post and irc rant are very good info for any future employer of his. they should know that he will instantly quit if he disagrees with policy that his employer has no influence on. they should know that employing him is high risk.everyone should send a printout of his post and irc rant to anyone that employs jani in the future.
I just wonder what will happen if Mexicans start blowing up them selves in the downtown area of your city. are we going to start bombing Mexico city?do you guys remember Timothy McVeigh ? did we bomb his home town ?the other problem here is that it is really easy on a urban environment to use civilians as human shields, if it hasn't stop on 3K years is not going to stop now. it is easy to talk about things when you are not directly affected by it .by the way I'm from the Dominican republic, :) so no relation to any side here.
