antiwar.com — Awesome article by 2008 presidential candidate Ron Paul. It's too bad that this threat wasn't taken more seriously two years ago when this was written. We the people need to lose the apathy and confront the uncomfortable reality of our situation before it's too late. Ron Paul FTW!

"That is what they say about our troops that die right? They died protecting our freedom."Heh, yep, that's what they SAY, but they don't know the meaning of the words they say.Troops are dying for Iraqi freedoms at the moment. If the troops were to defect and start turning guns on the morons that authorize this s**t, then we'll call it fighting for freedom.Till then, it's a cliche term used to build blind patriotism.

That shouldn't be your only concern is whether it will cost a lot of money and make you carry around another card, but your invasion of privacy. Sadily no news network has picked up on this story yet...

Just wrote both my senatorsMadam, right off I would like to say clearly the seriousness of this matter is not even recognized on your message for topics, like “abortion” or “minimum wage” this is not a copy pasted message, I took the time to write, and speak from the heart everything soon to be put forth in this e-mail. I am writing in regards to the National ID, and before voting starts; I remind you of your oath of office to uphold the constitution, and the law of this great country set forth by our founding fathers and past political leaders. As Senator Ron Paul (R) Texas has stated the national ID card is in clear violation of our 10th amendment to the constitution, and a shear method to blackmailing the states into giving up our constitutional liberty and privacy of its citizens by establishing an overwhelming centralized database of personal information (which I assure you, will be hacked) giving the federal government even more unprecedented power over its people, and exposing that sensitive information to the wrong hands. I am but a 21 year old college student, and the rate in which our freedoms are eroding is deplorable. The simple fact is the ID's can be, and will be forged… so much so that I, a simple computer tech contain the knowledge to do so. The only thing they manage to do is strip law abiding citizens of more liberty, and expose our domestic population to fraud and invasion of privacy. Please I beg of you, I am at the brink of leaving this once great country in which many of my family has fought politically, and militarily for… all because of its gradual decent into fascist like state. Our president is condoning torture, has unconstitutionally voided the writ of habeas corpus, damaged our global reputation, and many other personal freedoms and liberty due to the unlawful provisions under the Military Commissions act, Patriot Act, and soon to be with the aid of the senate... the National ID.I voted for you in the past because I believed you were the right woman for the job; please don’t let that faith go in vain, vote no against this deplorable act, and encourage your colleagues to do the same. Or soon, just like World War II, our citizenry will be hearing this from our law enforcement “Papers? Where are your papers?!” The thought of that alone is a dark path I wish us as a supposed democratic nation to never walk down.Respectfully,

America is stuffed. There are millions of Mexicans running the border whilst Israel is controlling the Government. In a few years America is be divided by race and will never be able to turn back the clock of destruction without doing racial cleanings(crimes) or deportations.

And people still manage to kill each other.

A national I.D. card is needed if there is going to be any hope of controlling terror and illegal immigration. Honest citizens, and even dishonest ones who are not retiring their real identities, have nothing to fear from a national I.D., and it is the tool needed to prevent illegal immigrants from getting jobs and housing, since it will provide a mandatory and reliable means for employers and landlords to verify legality, and employers and landlords must be accountable to the law and be heavily punished for not complying, since that is the only way to induce the more than 12 million already here to leave and remove all incentive for others to come. Then most illegal crossers will be felons who have jihadist, drug, and slavery purposes, and with no mass of undocumented to blend with, they'll be easier to catch. And, with the illegals gone, catching and deporting the few who stubbornly remain will be easier, and there will also be a reduction in crime and gangs.Like the saying with guns, a national I.D. does not abuse, governments do, and as long as the I.D. system is protected with stringent laws and oversight for control of use and data, and trails for accountability with stiff penalties for government employees who violate the law, it will be the primary tool for both immigration security and control.

And we should get rid of those too.
