spinchange.googlepages.com — I was reading this article on linux.com (found on Digg) when I noticed this large anti-linux, Microsoft FUD advertisement on the right. I realize ad serving is an automated process, but what's the deal placements that totally undermine a site's premise? Shouldn't certain vendors/placements be screened out??

If you replaced the word "Linux" with the word "Windows" then you guys would be foaming at the mouth about how Linux is beating Windows and how they should buy more ads like that. Way to dismiss any information that disagree's with your religious position.

They can block these ads from being chosen. It's trivial.

In the wild: at Linux.com - http://tinyurl.com/35ecuh - and at LinuxMag.com - http://tinyurl.com/3cgqvp I asked Linux Mag's webmaster and he said that they basically don't block ads they disagree with (within limits, of course).

"If someone says Linux doesn't meet their requirements, they're automatically wrong, despite the fact that I know nothing of their architecture or requirements."

You mean like how every other company, when they advertise, make it look like an actual magazine article? Or how car dealers send you special deals and offers in envelopes that look like they came from the IRS?At least with this ad, you know it's not a real newspaper. Most other companies would probably send you an actual newspaper filled with their ads and "news."
