prnewswire.com — GovernmentAuctions.org's data shows dramatic increase in state and local online government auctions. One way to help plug the holes in your state's budget in this hard economic time is to auction off more and more of your surplus cars and equipment.

I agree with mark, the local auctions aren't always great however I've found some amazing deals on surplus items in the past.

The auctions are something good but not for everyone and not in all times.

I guess this is just another sign of the times. If governments had to run their gigs like a business or personal household we wouldn't be in this situation and they wouldn't have all this stuff to auction. There's a large increase in government auctions because there's been such a large increase in government.

This sounds very interesting, maybe I'll check out some government auctions and find some good equipment.

Wow, what a great article on government auctions. A great way to get some good stuff for cheap, but kind of scary how much the increase from 2008 to 2009 is.

Who would ever guess that the state and local governments would auction off government equipment for a quick pay day. I know its good deal for those participating but we've all paid for that equipment with our taxes and probably paid top dollar for these items. The government has no ownership in the equipment and when they need the equipment again they'll just go and purchase it. Great deal for those purchasing this equipment but a bad deal for tax payers.
