walyou.com— I previously bought a Toshiba Laptop from Best Buy and added the extended warranty plan. Many argue that these service plans are expensive and unnecessary. In this particular instance, it was a lifesaver.

i had on my lap Lenovo N100 series an extended warranty (1 year) , i think its worthwhile, especially for me that takeing my laptop everywhere! , althought i didnt use it yet, and its so obvious that ill have a problem one day after the warranty will expired :)
I bought an Acer for some reason in 2004, and bought an extended warranty, from 1 year to 5. This year it crapped out, completely, and after about 5 trips in 3 weeks to the repair agent and many, many angry phone calls to the extended warranty company for not replacing it, they finally gave me a brand new one. NOT an Acer this time, thank God. Fortunatly consumer law here (New Zealand) means goods must be replaced if they can not be repaired within a reasonable length of time, so they had no choice. Sweeet.
