what makes them entitled to part of the iPod sales? They dont make any money off the CD player sales! They are lucky they get ANY MONEY AT ALL!! people buy music from iTunes, so they actually get money. They should not be complaining!
John Galt is an innovator whose bright ideas and inventions threatened the establishment to the point of torture. Capitalism is the best economic model, but I still hate the record companies. It took Napster and now iTunes to force them to think outside the box. They never would have done this on their own
I don't really like Apple that much but this is such complete BS. If Apple gives them one cent I will...well nothing, but it would be stupid and set a very bad precident.
I like what I said so much.... I'll repeat it:They don't know how to come up with a music portal that will make money because of all the multiple contracts they have with multiple companies PER ARTIST. Just figuring out who to pay what to costs money for them.Just go to Billboard.com and look at the top 100. Almost every song has 2,3 or 4 different names. DefJam/Rockafella though blah blah.. There is no way they can do a music portal.Business model is outmoded and corrupt... they pay DJ's to play specific songs!!!! The court just came out with the judgement a few weeks ago.Listen, like I said before, .99 cents is not allot. Its a dollar. You spend more going to eat out once.. heck the tip!! is more than that. Stop belly-aching about 99 cents for a song you probably play 20 times or more. Some here mentioned open source music labels... if this were to happen on a large scale, would you STILL only pay 99 cents per song?
These greedy SOBs with thier faustian contracts. I read that they are already making more money off Itunes and the other content providers then . The record labels won't be satisfied until they somehow force pay-per-play via media or hardware technology....Just imagine that.

"We are selling our songs through iPod, but we don’t have a share of iPod’s revenue,? he said. “We want to share in those revenue streams. We have to get out of the mindset that our content has promotional value only."From the Red Herring articlehttp://www.redherring.com/Article.aspx?a=13702&hed=Bronfman+Fires+Back+at+Apple&sector=Industries&subsector=EntertainmentAndMedia
