ecogeek.org — LEDs are fantastic. But for a long time, they've been fantastic more because of what we think they can do than what they actually do. We've been pretty sure that LEDs can produce warm, white light at efficiencies far beyond even the much-touted compact fluorescent bulbs. But we've yet to actually see that.

Too bad its too expensive to outweigh the savings, I don't give a flying f**k about the environment bottom line is price

I have also seen few railway projects here in India using LEDs for emergency lighting in the stations, which consume less power, but they are somewhat costly compared to the conventional ones.

100,000 hrs is not forever and that's only an average rating. I've personally built banks of LEDs and had 20% fail within a year. Of course they were cheap and I was running them at their highest rated power. Under driving them would have them lasting much longer.

resistors dont have efficiency, they resist. If current is passing through them it WILL be dissapated as heat, where else would the energy go?

Even with Fluorescents you can light a whole house for the cost of one incandescent bulb but still people don't change, crazy!

that is sooo wrong... (bad for business, rats ass) imagine having 95% of the lighting market. imagine every government of every part of the world eventually enforcing and endorsing your product, if you think that is bad for business then you have no idea my friend, no idea at all.

I hate people who write articles and really dont have a clue as to what they are talking about. This is very lame, misrepresents history and where things really are today quite badly.http://vb.paramegsoft.com/12/http://vb.paramegsoft.com/20/http://vb.paramegsoft.com/6/

These LEDs are commercially available, with 3 different white LEDS, from the same company (evident): http://www.evidotleds.com

This company is able to produce a warm white in a low power device using quantum dots on a blue led. http://www.evidotleds.com
