consumerist.com — We received what appears to be an internal Walmart PowerPoint presentation detailing its plan to break down it customers into three core segments, a strategy that announced last week. We're uploading the slides as we speak. Keep hitting refresh like a science rat to see the new ones. The most interesting one so far slide 4.

I'm definitely a "conscientious objector" when it comes to Wal-Mart. Haven't been to one in years, and go out of my way to avoid shopping there. I value quality over price, and take into consideration the store's social footprint when shopping there. For instance, I would rather shop at a local co-op than a big grocery store, but that is because I value putting money back into the local community more than saving an extra $0.25 on a loaf of bread.

not newsworthy, common demographic briefing IMHO, but I don't like Wal Mart myself.it's not for any of the anti-Wal Mart reasons we see so often- the stores are often way out of my way- they are often crowded costing me time - they are often dirty, and almost always seem trashy even from a distancethe business model for Wal Mart has worked though, I'll give them thatthe CNBC (I think) show about Wal Mart in China was amazing to me -- just the scope of their operation there is amazing

I might point out that if we're talking about demographics, the US itself is ALSO "highly caucasian"

Best Buy does this to the extent that they have nick-names and specialty stores for about 5 or 6 "identified groups". Off the top of my head, there is the "Jill", "Barry", and I can't remember the others.
