gizmodo.com — Kodak's revolutionary new ink can quickly create prints with an archival life of 100 years, versus standard inkjet photos that go the way of toilet paper after 15. And the ink costs half the price. Half?! We should buy Kodak's new printers simply because they're not trying to f**k us on the cartridge sales.

I bought an expensive printer some time ago (several hundreds of dollars) and fancy ink (for selling photographs and "guaranteed" for 15 years) we did the test photo, and it came out great ( <a class="user" href="http://tinyurl.com/24mf4p">http://tinyurl.com/24mf4p</a> ). I gave the shot to my girlfriend, about 6 months later it was pretty washed out and looked like crap. So I'll trust Kodak in 100 years.Nocturnal: Regular photographs and printed images are different. Regular photographic paper is layers of thin sheets and a photo is created by chemically altering the contents. A printed image is paint splashed on paper. Ink costs 1/2 the price, so Kodak can charge the same amount per cartridge and make more money.

Actually, I have an Epson and I buy generic refill cartridges for it for a buck and a half online. It's loud and slow, but the print quality is good, and the ink is so ridiculously cheap that for an inkjet it is wonderful. So all of you talking about how expensive Epson ink is, you obviously bought the wrong model, or you don't know how to shop.

Depending on the ink/paper price the final cost for 4x6" prints is about $.30 per print on an inkjet like my Canon.Yeah - I can get them cheaper at the grocery store, but I save on traveling and the extra time.
