slolane.org — If you have been using the ml_ipod plugin, watch out. If you upgrade to the newest version of Winamp (5.2) with the ipod plugin installed, kiss your playlists and everything else goodbye...it will screw up your ipod bad. It's affecting a lot of ipod owners and Winamp has not bothered to post any notices about this issue.

Why not just use iTunes Library as your playist......not that hard. What's the point of installing winamp if iTunes does the same thing. Click a song, play it. I don't need a fancy looking player to listen to my music. I know people hate itunes but come on. (I can't wait to get burried)Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I think it's sort of sad to use Winamp 5 over iTunes. I can understand using Winamp 2 for it's fastness but Winamp 5 and syncing your iPod to it.. just sounds like trouble to me.Then again I would never sync my iPod to my Windows computer anyway. ;)

Dugg, if only for the appropriate use of the word affect in a sentence.

I would figure Winamp realised its hard to carry a computer while you are jogging..

i use foobar2000 & a laptop in my backpack...audio quality is ~ 1000x better, hard drive is bigger, and it costs me nothing since i always have my backpack/laptop w/ me anyway. plus, i also hear the music properly, without absurd gaps and compression. battery life is only ~4-6 hours, but jesus, if i haven't found AC by then, i have other problems besides running out of juice.

I hate how the iPod can't do gapless. That's why I went through a ton of trouble making continuous mixes one huge file. Kind of good in the sense that I don't have to worry about landing in the middle of a continuous mix on shuffle I guess.

Because iTunes sucks. Some people would like to have an iPod without being totally tied to iTunes.

If anybody still cares, here's what I did that finally fixed it: http://www.slolane.org/archives/2006/04/ipod_deathmatch.html

Istari6...If I could give you a big hug I would...it worked beautifully...I will give a little more info. Install media monkey (lite = free version). Make sure Ipod is not connected. Stop any itunes and winamp services that may be working (close them as well)...the reason I did this is that the first time I started media monkey and tried to rebuild, the IPod was stuck on another service. Start up media monkey, right click on IPod and select Rebuild Database. BooYeah!!!
