I love the Kindle, but I decided to get the Ipad mainly for surfing, because looking stuff up on wikipedia/internet on the Kindle is too clumsy to be doing regularly. I thought I would keep both, but after having the Ipad for a week now I've decided to give my Kindle to my mom as I have no use for it anymore. Great, great concept when it first came out, but it's already obsolete.

I hear you, and I'm not knocking on the Kindle either - or at least I recognize it's usefulness having been a fan of it for a while now. But being able to read a book and look stuff up on wikipedia and check facts in a full browser with only a couple of swipes with your finger really makes it a whole new experience. The kindle has wikipedia too, but it's slow and clumsy and really disruptive to the reading experience, whereas the ipad makes it much smoother. The fact that I can hold something that small in my hand and download and read books, check videos, netflix documentaries, wikipedia, email etc without having to leave my recliner is what places the ipad in a whole different league for me. It's like sitting down with a book that turns in to anything I want read or watch on the fly.
