metro.co.uk — "A student has been suspended from school in America for coming to class dressed as a pirate. But the disciplinary action has provoked controversy ? because the student says that the ban violates his rights, as the pirate costume is part of his religion. Bryan Killian says that he follows the Pastafarian religion..."

Oh and don't forget, he's hardcore also with his inflatable cutlass!

You should. If you wear the costume, and believe it is good you have a Religion as valid and useful and true as any other.Religion == belief and practice.Faith == belief without proof.

With the eyepatch being disruptive, I'll say this, today, i was in World History Honors, and my teacher said, "the news paper said they found it a classroom disruption, but i never saw them in the classroom!' and later he said i could wear the patch if i wanted to in his class, and when i put it on to take a test, He said "now does anyone feel disrupted?" and laughed. But, it isn't as disruptive as other things are. A friend of mine even said, 'i find his hair more disruptive then the eyepatch' and laughed

"If we as Americans are going to tolertate Catholicism, a thinly disguised orginization of child molesters"Yes, because all Catholics are child molesters. But irregardless (i know that's not a word) I get tired of people playing their "cards" the religion card, the race card, etc. Also, satire of this isn't always funny. Also, shouldn't the kid have waited till September to do it? That's when pirates are in season.

Hasn't that assh**e Killian caused asinine disruptions like this before?

Who defines what is parody and what is religion and how do you tell the difference?

Wow...I graduated from that school last year. Its all a bunch of bs. Although I will give the kid props, nobody has liked that administration since like 2003. Its gone down hill since then. But seriously i can't believe its gone this far...

I love pastafarianism as a political movement, really I do. But this kid is unfortunately just trying to create controversy for the sake of controversy. And the school is handling it in a perfectly professional manner.

Isn't that the DMCA?

The school, in North Buncombe, North Carolina, remains adamant that their decision to suspend Killian for a day has nothing to do with his religion, and quite a lot to do with his repeated refusal to heed warnings against wearing pirate outfits. --- I think I like the thought of a kid that repeatedly wears pirate outfits, I mean did he always do this and then used the FSM to justify his pirataholism?

I can't believe people still take religions seriously... Religions were created to uphold insecurities of the rich, because they have/had way to much free time on their hands. Religions favor rich, because life gives poor so much s**t that it's not his fault he turns out to be a mean SOB, it's called reality.
