I'm 36. I remember buying "Thriller" on cassette a couple of weeks after I got my new Walkman as a x-mas gift (old one died). It was a yellow Sports Walkman with radio and megabass, and had auto reverse, so no need to switch the sides. A couple of years later I bought a Discman and "Thriller" on CD, since the old tape was worn out and got stuck a few times. I still have the "Thriller" CD, but sadly it has degraded...

I knew if I read far enough down this list someone would say that. I've never used a Walkman MP3 player, but I know a lot of non-Apple players use buttons to scroll, and that is kind of weird to get used to. (Full disclosure: I have an old Zen, with the flick tab.)

well also a pencil works better because they are soft and allow a tapes teeth to grip better, than say a bic pen that has the same octogonal shape

Nope. :). I wrote the article, and it wasn't for the onion.

Pahaha. It was hard for me to figure out when I wrote it because I'm used to iPods etc. Also, a tape looks like it has just the one side, no?
