youtube.com — Hey Digg, I'd like to take some questions from the Digg community with me to the Democratic and Republican conventions. Submit a question in the comment section below. I'll ask the newsmakers and politicians some of your questions in my online coverage from both cities, and during a live Webcast from CBS News and CNET. Thanks! Katie.

Aren't you wasting your time talking to us about your personal opinions about what constitutes wasted time when you could be doing something productive, like, pretty much anything else?

Sen. Obama, Sen. McCain, the Internet has connected people to a degree together never before seen in the history of man. As a result, tens of thousands of Americans are far more aware of their government's actions than ever before, thanks not only to weblogs and social networking, but due to websites such as GovTrack.Us and OpenCongress, among many others. Pending legislation is instantly disseminated via news aggregators like Google News. Lobbyists' donations are more clearly chartered and measured than ever before. Would your Administration be friendly to these efforts of citizens to leverage these tools to become more involved in their representation within the American government? How might our government become more "open source" using this increased connectivity -- allowing, say, the genius of some savante in a small town sequestered in the middle of America who posts on a message forum somewhere an ingenious solution to our economic problems -- to reach the right ears in Washington?

When trying to accomplish a multitude of tasks it is important to prioritize. If you would please place five of these tasks in order of importance to you as the President of the United States of America. Not choosing a task does not imply that you do not hold it important just that it is not in your top five. Ensuring Social Security ContinuesMaintaining the Civil Rights of our citizensFinishing the War on TerrorSecuring our Nation from all threats Generating Universal HealthcareIndependence from Foreign OilProtecting our environmentSecuring our BordersReducing our Incarceration RateIncreasing the Number of College GraduatesCreating Jobs here in the U.S.I understand you might think that some of these things go together (Independence from foreign oil and Securing our nation for Senator Mccain; or Independence from foreign oil and Creating jobs here in the U.S. for Senator Obama), However, if you would, please do not try to combine these tasks. The question is more potent if you leave them separate and still place them in order of importance. For instance if you came across a situation where in order to secure our nation you needed to rely on foreign oil for a few more years which would you choose to do: Secure our nation while the price of gas continued to climb or fight gas prices while potentially leaving our nation vulnerable. These kinds of decisions would help undecided voters understand where your prioities lie and whether or not your priorities are the same as theirs. If you feel I left out something of vast importance to you then feel free to add the issue in to your top five.

Should have said "signing statements," not "line item vetoes."

Here is a whole USA Today story about upcoming lobbyist funded events at the Democratic convention. I'm sure there will be the exact same type of thing at the Republican convention. Would you read this and ask both candidates how they feel about this in our face buying of the people we vote to represent us? (McCain about the Republican ones in a few weeks, not about the Democratic ones) And yes, I know USA Today is not exactly the height of journalism, but it is an easy list of events for your questions.http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2008-08-24-d ...

for McCain or Palin - Should we really consider a governor from a state with only 670,000 people and the highest per capita income in the country someone who is in touch with the needs of the people of this country? Does this really qualify as experience?

For McCain: What specifically is your timeline to return our troops from Iraq and what is your timeline to ensure that ALL AMERICANS have health insurance?

People also forget the two different ideologies like strict constructionists and implied powers. Having, of course, to do with how the laws are interpreted in the first place. Its why Mccain was having difficulty explaining on The View why he wants to repeal Roe v. Wade. While I disagree with Mccain and most of the current Republican ideals, I understand where they used to come from.

How can we get our freedoms back?

McCain/Obama:Without putting down your opponent, commenting on the existing regime, or making snide insinuations about anyone, please describe in DETAIL your plans and philosophy regarding the following:healthcare, immigration, economy rebuilding, budget deficits, taxes, infrastructure, streamlining the legal system, welfare, foreign relations, poverty, etc.

Obama: Federal tax receipts jumped over 16% in the two years following the last round of tax cuts in 2003, far faster than the rise in GDP. Some of those tax cuts are the cuts for which you propose a repeal. Is there a backup plan to pay for the additional spending, tax credits and other financial obligations you have proposed in case federal receipts drop again?--http://realestatelicensedirect.com
