lefsetz.com — You saw the video. Now an important industry insider named Bob Lefsetz explains why Kanye has to beg people to buy his album, while Reznor earns fans through his sincere railing against the broken industry they are both tied to. "This is a gargantuan story on the Net. Made by those who care, not the mainstream media or paid street teamers."

In response to typedirector's "HARD WORKER" comment, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find more obsessive perfectionist in the music industry than Mr. Reznor, according to some of his critics, often to a fault. In response to the race issue, I doubt that many here would deny that racial inequality is still a tremendously serious issue, almost more so for the fact that it's in many areas increasingly subtle and easier (for the white majority) to ignore. But to bring up Kanye West's critics as an example of this is, in my opinion, to hopelessly trivialize a real problem. If you want to make a difference, raise hell about the victims of hurricane Katrina, raise awareness about housing inequality and a myriad host of other issues that don't make the evening news.

reznor is the man with the plan. He's talented and that's why he sells albums. Kanye is a very talented man as well don't get me wrong. Just he relies on a lot of other things to sell the amount of albums he does.
