hopefully they will change that fuggly default clock.looks like a nice mix of OSX and win98 with a tab of vista.they really should work on function over design, 3.5 is still kind of flaky.

I prefer Gnome's look to KDE3 anyday, but KDE4 is really ramping up in the design department. For example, their default set of toolbars now come with a few, most essential icons with text (the way toolbars are supposed to be designed). Compare that to KDE3 where there were often two toolbars stacked on top of each other, filled with ambigious icons. It's true that Gnome did this before and KDE4 has a lot of catching up to do in the design department (this is the first release where they are following HIG), but the lead developer of KDE4 really has the design issues with KDE nailed and he gave a good presentation about it during the last aKademy, what remains to be seen is how the entire community adapts to his views.

Since it is beta, I like to think that the nice bits are the nearly finished bits, and the ugly bits are the bits that aren't done yet. e.g. the kicker in those shots is virtually non existent, worse than KDE 3.5, therefore i would deduce that they just haven't done that bit yet.

I get sick of all the comments that keep on using "common" as "come on". Your comment isn't exactly accurate in the usage "c'mon" but at least it is an attempt in the right direction. Thumbs up to you.http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/c%27mon

My only two bugbares with KDE is the organisation of the K menu and the poor dual display management. Hopefuly they'll be addressed - either way look'n good!
