pcworld.com — It's hard to find a Web service that doesn't offer a free trial. But just try canceling. PC World did, and the results weren't always pretty. It is so much easier to open and account than close it. Biggest Hassle Offenders: AOL, BlueMountain.com, Classmates.com, MSN Internet, Napster, Real, True.com, and more...

well i have disputed charges more then a few times and won more then a few times, if they dont want to dispute the charge tell them u want to take to a supervisor and if they dont want to dispute the charge then tell them u will cancel the card. Then if they still dont dispute the charge cancel the card and find a card that is more customer freindly. After all what good is the credit card company without its customers!-- Tony-- <a class="user" href="http://www.Sharewareisland.com">http://www.Sharewareisland.com</a>

Quite right. As long as you give them the opportunity to do the right thing first.

WoW was the easiest cancellation I've ever been through. Blizzard knows how to do it right.

I tried to get through all the comments posted in order to make sure that it hadn't been covered, but I still find it hard to believe that everyone just doesn't dispute their charge through Visa, or AMEX.In a situation like a cancellation, companies don't make it easy for you... at the very least they make you wait 30 minutes on hold to do such, or play games with you online. They will lose money, and companies aren't in business to do that, so why make it easy? The two things I do which have never failed to get my cancellation/ and or money back:1) File a complaint with the BBB. All you have to say is the provider makes it unnecesarily complex for you to cancel. Of the 3 times I have done this I have gotten a call from the company within 24 hours, and they were on their knees to resolve the situation (so as to still be a BBB rated company in good standing).2) Dispute the charge. AMEX and VISA will cancel the charges and you will be done with it (no provider wants to piss off the CC companies, their primary source of revenue). In my experience, both of these solutions will take you much less time than actually interacting with the companies themselves.

If you use the proper url (<a class="user" href="https://www.mbnashopsafe.com),">https://www.mbnashopsafe.com),</a> you won't get the certificate prompt.

I had to unsubscribe to Gametap as well. I certainly wouldn't call it no hassle. 45 minutes on hold untill I got a csr, then I had to verify about 10 different things from my account and it ended up being another 5-10 minutes with the csr. Also, on their front page they advertised the first month as 99 cents. I clicked that and signed up but got the 2 week trial along with a full charge for my first month. I certainly won't be signing up for them again. PS, if they are able to handle signups online, there is absolutely no reason to require a phone call to cancel. On a positve experience, I bought the fitness program Fitday a couple weeks. I liked Calorie King better and decided to take Fitday up on their 30 day money back guarentee. One email, and less than a day later I got a prompt refund. That's no hassle!

I just did a search on Blue Mountain and trying to cancel, and hit upon this nearly 2 year old article. Quotes Blue Mountain as saying they'd soon have an easy way to cancel online. What's their definition of "soon"? I just received a notice (on a Saturday) that they'd charge my credit card. No way to respond via email. No email address. No way to cancel online. Still must call M-F 8-5. What a BS company. Do these idiots not realize that people on the Internet talk to each other and tell people to avoid scammers like this?
