news.com.com — It may not be the last laugh, but on Friday afternoon, after the close of the stock market, Steve Jobs, the chief executive of Apple Computer, shared an e-mail chuckle with his employees at the expense of Dell, a big rival.

Microsoft sucks, and all their fan boys only talk s**t on apple because they don't have the money to buy Apple. Ever heard an Apple customer complain? Sure you have. what percent of them complain? Now want to compare that ratio to a Microsoft ratio? We're talking ratios so don't even try and whip out the Microsoft has a bigger install base bulls**t.

I am really really sick of apple being considered such innovation. Let's see, I can build my own system with two hard drives at 2 DVD multipurpose burners and a card reader in front with twelve USB ports and a dual monitor for 1600 bucks or less. Or I can buy the G5, which really doesn't outperform in speed in all cases, has slower functioning menus, even though people would argue and has one hard drive, one drive hidden and two usb ports in front. Who gives a f**k about looks with a computer anyway? OSX may be cool but the innovation part isn't as true as others believe. It is based on BSD / UNIX remember? So wouldnt' BSD be the more innovative distro? I believe I had an aluminum computer case with a handle five years ago. And even if final cut pro is good. Doesn't mean I'm going to drop to my knees or something. f**k off!

"but its just so damn expensive for a student"Oh come on... not this again. First, you can get an iMac for $1299. Second, you can get an educational discount if you're a student. All in all, quite a bargain for what you get. So please stop using the "it's too expensive" argument. That went out of fashion a while ago.And if you're now over on dell.com trying to put together a "comparable" computer to post about how you can get your box for $900 or something, please don't bother. You simply cannot compare a Mac with a boring PC. I really don't understand the morons who continue to do this. There is a quality, design ethic, and certain i-don't-know-what about using a Mac that cannot be valued in dollars. Just realize that if you're going to buy that $900 dell instead, you're making a decision to spend less money, but get an inferior computing experience. It's that simple. Nobody has pride in their Windows PC. But just look at the fanatical following the Mac has. There is a reason for that.

Well, at this time in 2008 we should look back on market share among the major players and see how Apple and Dell compare. Since Apple, regardless of OS on the machine, is now just another x86 maker I think it would be less of an issue if Apple only has 5% market share since other popular PC/x86 makers have 5% to 20% as well. Even if Apple had 17% like Dell has had, that would still be average. But this illustrates something. When Apple was a PowerPC computer company it was industry against industry as PPC was going up against the x86 the market share percentages were more valid. Now if the Mactels are able to boot Vista and that Apple is just another x86 maker to argue market share percentages is pointless if all other companies compare to Apple and Apple compares to all other companies on the same level.

Like Apple/Jobs or not, that's your buying preferences. But anti-Apple Microsoft-fanbois like 7of7 need to realize something: Steve Jobs and Apple are richer and more successful than you'll ever be in your lifetime, and NEVER are going away anytime you'll live to see.

apple osx really reminds me of cs:source for some reason...people fall in love with one aspect of it (aesthetics) and are blind to the shortcomings. Some guy a couple posts above me talked about the kernel-level slowness in the osx code. For a completely unrelated parallel, cs:source has the worst netcode ever written..it adds a 100 ms lag to everything. All the cs:source fanboys are blind to this though, because they get caught up in the graphics and refuse to give 1.6 a try.osx=cs:sourcelinux=cs 1.6completely unrelated things, but surprisingly similar fanboy behavior. harvard here i come.
