*Recalls when Steve Jobs said there will never be video on an iPod"'nuff saidand for the record, its 5 hours for talk/video/internet. No mention on music or idle time. Believe me, 5 hours kicks the s**t out of any phone I have had. When you first look at 5 hours you think thats nothing, but think how many minutes that is, 300 minutes. If you are talking on your phone for 300 straight minutes in a day and are still in the black I want your phone plan.
I think we should start one of those "prize sites" for people to incentivize them to create a tiny app that will bring down the entire West-Coast network of Cingular.I'll chip in $10.
I have a smart phone(wince), it's on Cingulars network, I can and have written my own applications for it. I have installed multiple 3rd party applications for it, all of which access Cingulars network. Apple/Jobs is speaking absolutely total BS!
@BearOwned:The difference between Gates and Jobs is that Gates wants as much 3rd party involvement as he can get, just not in the OS. Microsoft is by far a less-proprietary company than Apple by working with all sorts of 3rd party developers. They provide tools, and let the 3rd party companies go to work.
Hmm... An internet capable mobile device with third-party installable software. What could possibly go wrong? Malware is not third-party software? Are you saying software could not DOS a cell network? Are you saying that it is impossible?
CONSIDERING all the years of complaints on the macfixit.com web site (posted daily) of BUGGY and Flawed Apple software and updates ... it's VERY LIKELY that it would actually be APPLE'S own buggy software that will bring down the whole Cingular network!I am so glad that I'm on T-Mobile! enjoy your piece-o-s**t Apple not-smart phone.

Their only concern is people using skype to make calls over wifi. Cingular wouldn't get to over charge people if they had that option.
