metafilter.com — Wikipedia Administrator EssJay claims he's a tenured professor of theology when he's really a 24-year old with no teaching experience. Wales says, ?I regard it as a pseudonym and I don?t really have a problem with it.? I ***hate*** liars - Digg this to remind Wales that Wikipedia is worthless if it isn't true.

Unsurprisingly, Essjay's discussion page is now locked.Several people have been blocked for suggesting that Essjay should retire.

Look at the edit history on any MMA fighter, on pedophiles, on Elephants etc etc etc Wikipedia is just a cabal of people who mix fact and opinion under the guise of objectivity. I'm surprised that there are people who still consider it a legitimate source. Too bad no one has come up with a service resembling anything close to competition. Competition keeps monopolies honest.

This is amazing, considering that only a few days ago, the top elite Digg editors threw their weight around to bury a story with thousands of diggs, that diggers kept submitting (and supporting) over and over again. http://digg.com/politics/BBC_Reported_Building_7_Had_Collapsed_20_Minutes_Before_It_Fell Not surprisingly, the numerous (and well-dugg) stories that were submitted to cover this censorship were also censored. But that's OK, kiddies. Let's all point the finger at Wikipedia today. I bet this one doesn't mysteriously disappear from the homepage/RSS feed!

f**king METAFILTER? That's the best you could do? What, did you want to find a community that had even MORE stupid people than Digg, then post that so we'd all feel better?I cringed when I saw that URL. What the f**k is wrong with you?

@mcduckovIf you think Wikipedia's arrogant, you should check out Larry Sanger and the Citizendium folks:http://digg.com/tech_news/Citizendium_Leaders_Call_Digg_Users_12_year_olds_Ars_Readers_Jackals

The only people bothered by this are the idiots who think that the bits of paper you can boast about are at all relevant to your influence on Wikipedia. If you want a pissing contest between college professors, f**k off to Citizendium and leave the proper wiki to the rest of us.

@next: By "Wikipedia", he meant the community writing the encyclopedia, not the encyclopedia itself. Go ahead and read Essjay and Jimbo's talk pages, as well as the community discussion, and tell me that regular WP editors aren't upset.
