Sure its all about math for weight loss, but do you really want to get skinny fat? If you are working out and trying to actually build some muscle to give yourself some sort of shape, besides blob, you need to eat properly.Eating 1,500cal. of cake each day isn't going to get you buy. you won't have sustainable energy, you'll still be hungry, and you'll feel like s**t. Eat 1,500cal. of non-s**t and you have sustained energy throughout the day, you aren't hungry all the time, and you feel great.Yes, weight loss theory is simple. However, changing habits and actually finding foods at a normal store or restaurant that aren't loaded full of s**t and choosing those that will benefit you long term vs tasting good at the moment is another story. Also, if you are working out you can't just cut calories down. You need to eat enough to get you through the workouts so you don't dog it or die half way through and quit. 2,000cal might not be enough for you, especially if you are obese to start with. You might need 2,500 or more just to maintain your weight. Add in a workout and you need more. Find how many calories you need for maintenance and cut from there, and not 1,500cal like some people are doing. That's what isn't healthy.
It may not be a healthy way to lose weight, but it does not matter when you are desperate enough to get rid of it. Chances are they know it isn`t healthy, but getting rid of it quickly is simply worth the risk in their minds.
First off, I'm amazed you have the audacity to claim to be a specialst in anything. You are a STUDENT. Second, she is talking about weight loss AND an overall clean lifestyle which requireS the elimination of many of the things she mentioned. You need to eat high fiber foods that are unprocessed. Things she has mentioned such as nitrates are linked to cancer, hepatic disease, etc. Please, educate yourself before spouting off nonsense. Exposure to cleaning supplies can increase your risk of disease. The green movement is about decreasing chemicals we put into the environment because they cause harm. Somehow you think we are immune to that harm? Eating whatever you want while simply cutting calories will lead to poorer insulin control, worse fat/muscle ratio, uncontrolled cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. As someone before me said, thin does not equal healthy. That is what she was getting at and she even mentions herself that the over-exercising on the show is unhealthy and unrealstic. Try switching your diet the way she says and you will not only lose weight but feel amazing, energized, and HEALTHY.
You're a specialist???? WTF? seriously I've been at 300lbs and my metabolism was messed up from all the processed foods I used to eat. When I switched to whole foods, and eliminated the processed crap I was able to keep my hunger in check and loose weight. What you said goes completly against what I've personally experienced. When I eat processed foods I feel like crap. It's like putting bad gasoline in your car. You're going to feel a difference. You need to go back to school.

Jillian is right when she said that being a friend to somebody is not always the best way to help them-obesity is serious, not fun & games.
