this is a terrible way to end christmas day here in australia. RIP mr peterson, your playing on 'sometimes i'm happy' from the live in chicago album was one of my first introductions to jazz piano, and still one of the greatest.

superb. listen to the ravishing "Ella and Louis" with Peterson as piano playing sideman. Surreal. What a loss he is and will be.

Oscar was a wonderful Pianist. He was incredible solo or with a band, and there is no doubt that his improvisation was expressed from his heart and soul. He sang along with everything he played and was a passionate player. I have been greatly influenced by him as a pianist and always loved his recordings. I know he was heavily influenced by Art Tatum and he had his own style nonetheless. Much love to Oscar Peterson and his family.-Willhttp://www.sharkdawg.com/Jam-Band-Blues-Groove

We're losing to many of the originators; and he just made it look easy. But, that's what legends can do. Miss him. RIP.
