sportsillustrated.cnn.com — Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker says he still has the bloodied shirt from the night teammate Darrent Williams died in his arms after a drive-by shooting on New Year's Day. The limousine he rode in was sprayed with bullets after leaving a nightclub in downtown Denver where there had been an altercation with suspected gang members.

I doubt most of the white folks or folks in general would give this story a second thought if dude wasn't a professional athlete. Especially when people make comments such as: "its a shame, becuase he was a hell of a talent."

Agree..Why are you tryin so hard to make it a race issue?? move on and stop giving other black men a bad rap. You need a hug playa!

Me, too. It was an awful time for the Broncos and for the folks in Denver who really liked Darrent. On an unrelated note, it also reminds me that my wife (at the time) went out with another guy that night. So, hearing about this makes me sick to my stomach for multiple reasons.

You are right this article doesn't, but even if he wasn't "sprayed" with fire from an automatic weapon...my statement still stands correct.

I bet his killers were Swedish-American thugs. They run rampant in the inner-cities.

you wouldnt have even heard about this story if he wasn't famous, and do you think people wouldnt be saying "its a shame he was a great athlete" if he was white? youre st00pid.

it never fails- in the middle of human tragedy, some dip-s**t always has to bring race into the picture. No one in Denver cares about the color of Darrent Williams, Javon walker, or the bastards who killed him. All we care about is that we lost a member of our community, and we will miss watching him play...
