darlugo.com— There are some really cool things going on in this Java based OS. Makes you think about the whole google-sun alliance....

I love this idea and had seen it awhile ago. I love any innovation in the GUI department. The problem that I see, and I don't know if this was covered in other comments as they are all so figging long, is that you would need a pretty powerful computer with top of the line vid card. GUI enhancements are great but when is someone going to come up with a completely NEW OS?+Digg just for the cool factor though
I found this interesting even if its old. Java is a great programming language and I would like to see it used in more complicated apps like desktop environments and operating systems.@kidventusGood comment!!
Wow - that's NEW. And Java is so fast! And who gives a crap?Being able to make notes on the back of a windows seems like a good idea to me. The whole concept of a 3D environment on the desktop is really in it's infancy. Or a better term would be, it's still in Alpha.I think it's good that someone out there is exploring improvements to the user interface of the PC. Despite what the members of the Apple cult, the Linux elite, and the Windows DRONES say - the three operating systems are almost identical. This is something slightly new and I say more power to them. Maybe it will flop, or maybe it will develop into something we take for granted in ten years.Yes, I said "Apple cult"
I'm looking forward to a day when you can choose your OS and select your Windows Manager. Oh wait, Linux lets you do that! (except the select the OS part)While there will no doubt be some advancements in UI by exploring the idea of a 3D desktop environment there is still a very real problem. We're still using a 2D input device. We may even have true 3D flat screens with out 50s style glasses but that's only half the equation. Until we can find some useful 3D input device to work with our 3D environment we're still not really advancing much. But the idea of flipping a window over to make notes is hot.(Pulling out ObjectiveC books...)

This was a neat demo, I dont' understand why it should matter if it's old - many of us haven't seen it.

seen it before... quite some time ago..I think it's stupid to write notes on the back of a window. why would anyone want to do such a thing?

As you can see, this demo is two years old, as the CNN page covers hurricane Isabel which was circa mid-September, 2003 (<a class="user" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Isabel).">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Isabel).</a> Its very cool, and Microsoft has also been working on similiar things.
