appleinsider.com — A report intending to portray the iPhone as "hated" in the Japanese market turns out to have been built upon fake quotations from industry writers and observers who were misrepresented by remarks attributed to them that they never made. Their actual comments on the iPhone's prospects in Japan are far more interesting.

The AI article doesn't really dispute that, though, and mentions the particular limitations and challenges the iPhone faces for adoption, qualifying it with "it's not as bad as they claim." It does, however, point out the bulls**t in the Wired article.Personally, I don't get the TV thing... I mean, isn't the data bandwidth overall out there a lot better? Why monkey with an antenna on a small screen when you could push streaming clients that let you pull whatever content you want, when you want, where you want, without having to worry about separate signal strength? And heck, one that CAN pull live TV streams as well? That doesn't smell of "new" or "high tech" to me. That's just... odd. TV tuners are LOW tech, even if squeezing them into a cell phone makes them smaller and more accessible than they have been before.

Sony needs to make a PSP phone. Then all this BS will be over.

Who types 'newsflash' anymore?

Newsflash. The article was bulls**t. It was, for all intents and purposes, a fabrication for anti-Apple wankers to, well, wank off to...

You do realize that your comment is destined to be buried when you invite iphone competition right? That said, I have a G1 and had an iphone and I agree. Like my G1 better. My only gripe is that I like the aesthetics of the iphone glass covering the whole front better. Sure the actual viewable screen was almost the same as the G1 but the sleekness of the front felt better. That said, physical keyboard is sooooo much better. The trackball is so handy.Heck, I even have multi-touch zoom on my G1 now. What's there to miss?

You do realize that your comment comes off as pretty damn silly when the guy you're replying to has had his post out for a day without getting buried, right?

All things considered, if you toss "hate" in your title, make up quotes from "authorities" on the matter, ignore a host of comments from a primary authority you did send an email to (and was answered promptly, considering the time zone divide), and make other comments that quote-mine but otherwise effectively disagrees with a previous Wired article also mentioned as a reference...You're looking to tell a tale, and that tale isn't "taking a realistic, contextual look at where the iPhone stands in Japan."
