query.nytimes.com — Anywhere else perhaps, a shiny cellphone fallen on the backseat of a taxi, a nondescript umbrella left leaning against a subway door, a wad of cash dropped on a sidewalk, would be lost forever .But here in Tokyo these items and thousands more would probably find their way to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Lost and Found Center.

Yeah, dog poop on car door handles is such a common thing in America. /sarcasm

They don't ring their bicycle bells often too. When they ring, it usually means that they're losing control.

Check the annual stats of criminal report made by Japanese police. Chinese is always top on the list in past years! You are almost saying the people stealing your bikes and wallets are Japanese. If you say it that your wallets and bikes were stolen in "shin-okubo" or "kabuki-cho", no one doubt it's by Chinese. (They also the people living in a part of Tokyo) Or tell me how you recognized the guys you think are Japanese as a really Japanese, or you can tell the difference?

I never found out who stole my stuff but I'm not a racist so I don't assume that it's Chinese people. This is Japan and the vast majority of people are Japanese. The likelihood that a Japanese person stole my stuff in Japan is pretty high statistically speaking. My bikes were stolen in Asagaya.

Wow! You're the first one to ever bring that up ever!I just wonder if you include the Germans and Italians in your WW2-era list of people you hate.

It seems that the Japanese have a stronger sense of community. I find this odd considering how crammed the cities are.

Both my wife and daughter have left their purses (coincidentally, with more money than they should have been carrying in both cases) and had them returned with everything intact. In both cases, we offered a reward but it was not accepted. I see bicycles sitting unlocked pretty much every time I go to the local store.<a class="user" href="http://xn--ngbd7a2ek.xn----ymcae0df5a6fo.com
