katu.com — Investigators said a credit card history search revealed the family made a charge at a Denny's restaurant in Roseburg. A citizen also came forward Saturday morning reporting seeing their vehicle in the same area as the restaurant, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Unfortunately, no dice on the OnStar angle. Here's a snippet from a CNET article on the search:>>>While some Saab models come equipped with the OnStar vehicle security and communications system, the model the Kims were driving did not offer OnStar as an option, said Mike Weinstein, a detective with the Portland Police Bureau's Missing Persons Unit, who said he also confirmed that information with OnStar using the Kims' vehicle identification number. The car did not have a LoJack car security system either, Weinstein said.>>>Snippet is from this story:http://news.com.com/Aerial+search+under+way+for+missing+CNET+editor/2100-1028_3-6140118.html

this is clear evidence that the internet can be used for things other than porn. I know I'm not the only one thinking these things, and it's frustrating seeing comments dug down because of a lack of enthusiasm about the disappearance.this is also clear evidence that people have the capability to do great things for one another. now that we've all learned that we can use Digg to drive a cause like finding missing persons, let's keep using it in such a way with socially proactive topics. I hope that this case resolves in a positive manner, and that folks remember what's been going on with this site days from now. I enjoy fractal art as much as the next guy, but would much rather see technology like Digg lead to significance than irrelevant entertainment.

I'm guessing an integral part of the digg design or favored incentive. In any case an ongoing story, I'd like to hear the ending of. Not an option after a triple play on the front page. That loss is my loss.

OK dude, now I'm getting pissed at you. Get a life, stop posting stupid s**t about James Kim in EVERY f**kING THREAD. You are such an ass, that for some reason I feel compelled to talk s**t to you, even though I'm sure that's just giving you the attention you crave.

I am concerned for James and his family, but I'm pretty mad about the whole scenario. I'm mad because this whole event looks like It could have been avoided, I'm a truck driver and know how dangerous icy mountain passes can be. What would inspire someone to try and take a Saab station wagon, with their two young babies in the car to try and drive those roads? I hope they are alive, chances are they aren't, with the weather around there.

I'm from Roseburg, grew up there, went to high school there, ate at that Denny's more than a few times (it's right next to the high school). It's also right off the I-5 exit, and a logical place to stop. I-5 south from there is pretty safe - even the passes South aren't exactly dangerous roads. Now, heading West towards the coast - which they might have done just South of Roseburg can be dangerous - some high passes, with significant drops, and all in pretty isolated territory with limited cell coverage.

Just this morning, on the seattle news a man was found after being stuck in his vehicle for the past week and a half......lived on rice cakes. I see no reason for the authorities not to be able to find them ALIVE. but they need to get on it!! The old fashioned way...search / look for things, such as tire marks going off the road / the weather has been awful, they could have been ran off the road, most likely somebody is still alive.........GET ON IT !!!!

I am from Oregon and I just heard the recent news. My prayers go out to the Kim family. My family and I were really hoping for a happy ending despite the circumstances. We all thought some how he would make it. I wish they could have got to him sooner.

Friends, this is definitely a disaster. I cannot imagine what he went through in his final hours. May God Bless his soul and his family on earth. Just because it happened to just one family does not "lessen" the tragedy. Identifying with him just adds to the sorrow. I will hug my own kids even more tightly. I also years back had a near brush with death when my car slided off the Pennsylvania highway. Luckily, many kind souls stopped their cars and help came ASAP. This blog shows that people in general are "good" and kind and we DO care.
