Not often. Add to the fact that Seattle and Portland roads were awful at the time he went missing due to snow, and there is a lot of reason to worry. Family and friends say they normally checked in every day, and the last time anyone saw them was Sunday.
To be fair, people get lost in the Oregon wilderness fairly frequently, and it never makes national news. Maybe if one was a big celebrity, but a CNEWS editor? Nah.The local (Portland) news has been reporting this regularly. They even had a short interview of the last guy who saw them. They said the latest suspicion is that his GPS might have misled him onto some small forest road. There seem to be a lot of comments about cell phones; I suggest you look at coverage maps - there is virtually no cell phone coverage between the valley where I-5 runs and the coast.
Yes and how on Earth did I say anything against them? All I said was that they're most likely dead, whenever anyone goes missing for that amount of time they're usually dead. You can't "block" my comment for simply stating something that will probably later become obvious.I hope they're safe, but things never turn out the way we hope.
I'm praying that they are alright. When I first found out this happened my stomach dropped. It makes me quite sad to think of what might have happened to them. It makes it even more sad that there are children involved. I'm nervous to find out the end result.
I am not a survival expert but I think they have some things going for them. They are in a very crash worthy car -side impact airbags etc. They probably had some food in the car because they were on a road trip with a 7 yr old and are in a wet area to get water. If they were on an extended road trip they have dry clothes in suitcases. As long as they stay with the vehicle-stay hydrated, keep each other warm and ration what little food they have, they can make it over a week. They have multiple agencies looking for them. As long as foul play is not involved I say they have a pretty good chance of being found alive. There was a similar case --The Stolpa Family (13 yrs ago) -- getting stranded on a backroad in winter in Nevada with a 5 month old baby and they survived over a week with a couple of boxes of crackers. They made it. The dad was a Marine though and may have had survival training. I believe there is a movie about their experience.

Why do I get the sinking feeling that this site will likely be a memorial page a week from now? :
