flickr.com — Apparently in Orange City, IA, the locals were a little put off by the title of the new Jackass 2 movie. So, rather than deal with the snarky complaints of their townsfolk, they came up with this "clever" editing to make the title palatable. What they failed to realize is that "jackbutt" sounds way dirtier...

Interesting. The Urban Dictionary actually lists "jackbutt" as a common alternative for "jackass", and that entry was put in over a year ago.

also i'd just like to point out that most of the comments here about the town are way off. it's a pretty conservative area but i can assure you there's is a rather large meth problem and the high schools are loaded with booze and weed. it's basically just like any other small town.if it really was just a joke by a teenager then this is not the greatest thing i have ever seen any more :(also i'd like to know who mtndewlover is married to. i probably know her?

if you go to the tmz.com website and search for jackbutt, they have a lot of comments about it there as well. the manager actually confirms that it was a lack of letters issue and not that anyone complained.he also made an interesting comment that not one person called to ask why it said jackbutt and not jackass. people just started going off on the internet and making very wrong assumptions about Orange City. the world is full of idiots!

So, it seems my lovely little town of Orange City, Iowa, is making national (and international) news with the movie Jackass 2. Apparently it was even on ET and the Leno show. Wow, Orange City.If you're confused, go ahead and Google it. Our local theatre - the Holland Plaza Theatre - has it listed as Jackbutt. At first glance, this would look to be censorship. And, considering this is northwestern Iowa and we are pretty conservative, it would sort of make sense.Only that's not what happened.Turns out the theatre ran out of S's for the marquee (We've got Open Season, School for Scoundrels, Little Miss Sunshine, the Illusionist...). The high school student putting up the names realized that he was out of S's, so he decided to put Jackbutt, and the manager didn't care, because there really wasn't anything they could do about running out of S's.So, think what you will of Orange City - we are overly conservative, but not quite that conservative.- Paula Pudewell, a student at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa
