secrity,The pizza you describe sounds delicious, and is clearly custom designed to fit your palate. From your description, comparing your pizza to retail pizza is like comparing a Porsche to a Pinto (do they still make them?)I don't think it fair to compare the price of that with a meat lovers pizza that you buy. I have never seen a retail pizza that had that much cheese or meat on it. Most retail pizzas have 8-10 oz of cheese, unless you order extra cheese, then its still usually less than a pound. The same is true for the meat.I like to use slices of a sweet sopressata salami. That runs about $12/lb even at a discount. Some decent aged Provolone is about $10. Good parmigiana and other cheeses cost even more. I wouldn't compare these pizzas to a retail pie as there is no comparison in taste and quality. Some people go even further, using gourmet ingredients like truffles and true saffron which are more than I care to spend on a pizza. But I understand the desire for the best pizza around. Please don't compare your wonderful sounding homemade pizzas to order and deliver pizza, the cost may be the same -- but there is an enormous difference in the quality.

This is why you don't let a frozen pizza thaw before putting it in the oven...

you don't have to have a pan, but you have to admit, it would have saved that poor pizza in the instance.
