"Disclosure, I am a "Netscape Navigator" -- but my views are my own and do not represent my employers for whom I am only an independent contractor. Nor do I directly benefit from Netscape's success -- This post is not motivated by my role at Netscape in any way."the truth is, there is bias, you're paid by digg's competitor. it doesn't matter what you say. it's like the nytimes editor saying that his marriage to a US senator should not pose any problems. btw, that examples is just that, an example...the nytimes editor probably isn't married to a US senator
No. There is a problem with that example. My editor always said: You can cover the circus, just as long as you aren't F*ing the elephant.I realize that my job at netscape does look like a scandalous elephant affair. But what I do for Netscape is a service -- I wake up. I find cool links -- and submit them to Netscape. Guess what.... But I often submit to Digg too. They don't stop me -- in fact, they encourage it. Netscape doesn't have a position on Digg. In fact the big boss man usually says that we aren't in competition with digg (totally different demographics). I know it's hard to believe -- but my role at netscape really doesn't have any effect on this post.
