centernetworks.com — Over the past few months, we have debated the campaigns that Federated Media has run. The buzz today is about WebbAlert, a daily video show by FM publisher Morgan Webb. It seems most of the blogs discussing the show are FM blogs and most of the links from the show are also to FM blogs. Should there be disclosure on the video blog noting the links?

"Out of the 7 links, 4 are FM blogs or 57%. And the ad in the middle comes from FM blog ArsTechnica. This is disappointing at best."How on earth is that disappointing? Here's a gander: perhaps a lot of quality news sources use FM? God forbid, an advertising service becomes so good it attracts a lot of popular customers...

Or more likely, they all just know each other. The tech journalling community is fairly tight knit. Its entirely possible that the reason that those blogs had postings are because they are the ones who have the closest relationships with Webb and so she told them about it first and asked if they could help spread the word. Doesn't seem like anything sinister. Most of Webb's stuff seems to be decent anyway.

Um, there *is* full disclosure! Did you read any of the site other than the video? http://webbalert.com/whatsthis.htmlSummary: Morgan likes a lot of FM blogs, but she isn't obligated to report on them, nor them on her. It just happened to be a good fit.

FM authors are not getting any magical Digg preference. I am an FM author, and I can assure you no one is digging up stories (let alone contributing them) from CoasterBuzz.com.FM is good people. They're not selling much for me, but I also have one of the smallest sites they represent.
