thestar.com — "I forgot how to handwrite," says 18-year-old Kris Tofer Baker, as he mulls over the execution of a "w." Don't misunderstand. Baker is an intelligent young man. He just hasn't needed to use cursive script since Grade 4. "I print out or type the majority of my school work."

Yeah, I always, look at others handwriting girls looks way nicer than us guys. I printed the diagram from one of the top comments and i'm gonna use it to practice. Cursive from me is ok, not as good as others but it does allow you to write faster than printing.

I use cursive. I hate print. It's so slow compared to cursive.

When writing notes to myself I combine cursive with printing, and I also combine words. For instance, "for instance" would be "fortance". Sometimes I forget to write nicely when I write notes to other people. Oops.

Uhm... no. I just used a pay phone today. I don't have a cell phone. Even walked twice as far so I could use the 25 cent one instead of the 50 cent one.Cursive has no use. I can write as fast as anyone I've ever seen writing in cursive, and anyone can read it.

I wrote down my passwords on a note on my LCD. Nobody can read my passwords because it is written in cursive. kekeke.

In drafting, block print is all that is used... ALL UPPERCASE BLOCK PRINT.Not only have I not written cursive since I was a kid... but working in a design and drafting dept. for the last 6 or so years... I have not even *seen* cursive in a good long while.Even after years of practice, I could still print faster... and in school, they taught you this cursive handwriting, and then the very next year they would require notes be taken at speeds faster then most students could write in cursive. It is dead, sure... and I blame (for me anyways) the same schools that teach it. If you are going to teach it... then enable it... otherwise don't bother. To think I could have had however many weeks/months extra summer break if they left it out. Also, put me in the "sign the first letter and the rest of my name just squiggles to look like cursive" camp. Signature is anti duplication protection... not meant to be legible.

Connectors. You have a connector from the left at the base, and one to the right from the r's branch/overhang thingy (handwriting's not my forté). The s works similarly, but without the change to the stroke order/direction.

Forgetting for a few seconds is normal, forgetting altogether is bizarre.. for an intelligent person with an average education in this country.. To fully participate in society, one of the traditional things is being able to sign documents, write letters and statements in cursive. When biometrics and paper money go the way of the dinosaur, then we'll give 'em a pass on this one..Easy way to practice, get a checkbook!
