officialwire.com — As the FDA put out a news release concerning its stance on electronic cigarette products a few weeks ago, the administration only tested two different brands. What many e-cigarette users say is important about these brands is that they are made by the two manufacturers currently suing the FDA in f

That is the gist of it. I am surprised that the author didn't touch on alcoholic beverages with names like 'Lemonade' and such that would appeal to minors. Given the choice my kid would jump at 'Lemonade' and turn his nose up at a cigarette in any form. To suggest that these flavors were created to entice children is to imply that anyone over the age of 25 does not have tastebuds.I believe that the FDA is demonizing the ecig for much the same reason that organizations llike A.S.H. are. I truly believe, after what amounts to a report spun to alarm, that PAC money from Big Pharma and Big Tobacco may be pulling the puppet's strings.

Excellent article. The FDA is undoubtedly under enormous political pressure from certain lawmakers and special interest groups (such as ASH) who get a large part of their donations and funding from big Pharma, the makers of currently available nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs). But that still doesn't excuse them for trying to panic the public and whip up support for a ban with a report that actually proves e-cigarettes are safer than tobacco. And speaking of the children that are so threatened by e-cigarettes: Let's also remember the flavored FDA-approved NRTs available right off the shelf of just about any family discount store. The lozenges currently come in mint, cherry, and cappuccino flavors. Why would that be? If the FDA and ASH are to be believed, these kinds of flavors appeal ONLY to children. So these NRTs must be marketed directly at them as well.

It's great to see that someone out there is doing some "investigative reporting". This FDA propaganda has been spewed out over too many news links. It's time to get to the real point- and I call upon the E-Cig industry to do their part- prove that E-Cigs are a safer, more environmentally friendly alternative to smoking tobacco. My lungs know it. This product may lead to the demise of the tobacco industry and the reduction of health costs. Of course there may be a cost- reduced medical and pharmaceutic profits, lost profits in our tobacco industry, lost jobs at anti-smoking agencies like ASH, and of course lost tax dollars to our government. Anyone for a dollar tax on your next package of twinkies anyone?
