nedwolf.com— Firefox / Opera ComparisonOpera was formerly adware and has just been released as freeware. Is it worth it to make the switch?

Hee hee, that's funny. Right after that, he says,"And hey, a lot of people don't want to use their browser as an email client. And are you really going to use Opera for IRC? I mean, get real."
Yes Opera isFirefox has UI quirks that get me. It feels incomplete and its unusable without ExtensionsOpera is updated regularly. Mouse gestures are the best. Its highly customizable. Very lightweight in install size and Memory usage. Doesnt go nuts when browsing alot of pictures. has Killer feature(F12 menu, better popup blocking, on the fly resizing of everything(I love this feature), Saved Sessions, Wand)I could go on and on and on
Most of the common things I've seen commented about is how Firefox users don't want change. They don't want to try an experience that is much more configurable than what Firefox could ever be. It's not like you have to use everything that comes with it, but if you need it, it's there. Mouse gestures, RSS support (much better than that Live Bookmarks thing), much better control of tabs (rearranging tabs? Ever tried that in Firefox?), user stylesheets, small screen view... I could go on an on... Try not being the collective Internet's sheep once in a while and try to discover Opera. And whoever said Digg looks horrible in Opera? It looks just fine to me.
i'm reluctantly switching to opera for personal use, but as a computer service tech i would have a hard time recommending this product as it is out of the box. i'm not an opera user, and have avoided it in the past due to the advertising banners and fear of spyware bundled w/ opera. w/ the annoying banners no longer around, i'll try it and see if its customizable enough to switch my newb ie customers over to opera w/out them crying that it doesn't look or work the same.
I'd have to say I like Opera better simply because I don't have much memory, and Opera is a little less taxing on the memory than Firefox. If FF could be more memory efficent that FF would win the browser battle hands down. Though I'd have to say that no matter which one you use, it's a win-win for the users in the end because competition leads to a better product and less of a M$ market share, heh.
Okay, all you people type "why is firefox better than opera" in google. Guess what? The first 30 results of the "Firefox versus Opera" links were about 25 in favor of Opera and 5 in favor of Firefox. That is from typing in "why Firefox is better than Opera" in google.Don't blame me, blame reality.
Opera is not the simple browser. Firefox is the simple browser.Think about it, you have to add multiple extensions to the browser so that it has the same features as Opera. Which one is the simpler one? (It's not hard)

I try Opera on SuSE Linux 9.1 and it crashed 2 or 3 times in 2 days. With that said, Opera is a great browser but I'm more comfortable with FF.
