Yes, using the cartridge on N64 makes Nintendo a bunch of idiots. Obviously Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time, the original Smash Bros., Mario Kart 64, etc. are all the work of complete morons who know nothing about games. As far as the article, it makes sense. Yes, it's all speculation, but it's interesting and reasonable speculation, and well worth reading. Dugg.
i get the impression that the guy who wrote this arcticle truly thinks M$ and $ony overall lost billions of dollars with their consoles... sure they have may have lost that on production vs. sales of the console itself, but they obviously made up for it with games, otherwise it wouldn't be worth their trouble to make the consoles! i don't care how big your company is, you don't make products that don't make you money in the long run. the fact that the xbox 360 will allow people to make purchases via xbox live further illustrates my point. M$ will MAKE billions with the xbox 360 when you consider games, xbox live, and overpriced accessories. if nintendo wants respect, they had better be able to come up with some "revolutionary" games for this new TV remote their calling a console controller. i'm not saying it isn't possible, but they have something to prove. M$ and $ony have already proven they can make successful games with their MORE POWERFUL systems. fact is, all 3 of these companies have been successful with their consoles, Nintendo is just #3 on the list, and they'll stay #3 on this list in my opinion.
Nintendo invented video games as we know it. They invented the control pad. They invented shoulder buttons. They invented feed back controllers with the rumble pack. They invented the integraded analogue thumb joystick. They also make really great games.I had a PS2 with 10 games for a year... but I never played it, so I sold it and bought an XBox. Over 18 months or so I bought many 'big-name' games... but it just collected dust. The only game that was enjoyable for more than 30 minutes was Burnout 3. I also have a GameCube, and the games are just awesome. What has the XBox of PS2 done that is any different than the PS1 or N64?... apart from better graphics and sound?Anyway... Nintendo also OWN MS in Japan out selling the XBox 17:1... http://ds.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=2633
goo darticle but he starts off witha ton of twisted facts... trying to claim that nintendo is doing better profits with the gamecube than microsoft and sony is just ludicrous... microsoft and sony make their money off the games, not the hardware... the reason nintendo doesn't look to be doing so bad in hardware sales is because nintendo isn't selling as many of its own profit-losing console
Exactly. Nintendo may be the low man on the totem pole, but they'll get it done just fine. I think the 360 development team is copying Nintendo's successful marketing with the DS. XBox 360 May Just Pull a Fast One
"microsoft and sony make their money off the games, not the hardware.."Have you heard Microsoft lost about USD 4,000,000,000 with the XBox movement according to Forbes? Microsoft is failing at getting revenues.
"i give em 2 more console generations before they go the way of sega"It's good thing then that no one pays you for your business insight.Aside from their loyal fanbase, their profit-making systems, their key franchises... Doesn't anyone else realize Nintendo owns the Seattle Mariners?! They alone provide Nintendo with enough capital that they'll NEVER EVER go broke and "go the way of Sega." Young people these days must not realize the profits of OWNING A SPORTS TEAM. Being in third place doesn't mean they lose. They still make billions of dollars. That's not quite losing. Ask Apple about that one.
