blog.mises.org — No way. Popularity isn't the only standard of truth and beauty, and it may not be a standard at all. But one can still detect the existence of a volition-driven meritocracy, even in the wild and crazy world of the web. (This post ends with a tribute to Bill Gates: digg it down!)

"Obscurity is an author's worst enemy."My own vanity sometimes wishes Mises.org was gaming Digg... after all, my posts/articles would always receive more attention. Thus, obviously I've created a million spam accounts to digg all of the articles over and over -- because I don't have a life, job, classes to attend, or any responsibilities. Can't wait until someone figures out Mises.org is actually administered by Kevin Rose.

How to tell that Mises.org is not:When a Mises.org article hits the front page, it gets many hundreds or thousands of diggs. This is not a small corps of well-organized clickers, this is _major_ agreement with the messages of Austrian economics and rational individual responsibility and individual liberty. The nay-sayers, who reflexively bury Mises.org articles (in a sad mimicry of what they think Mises.org is doing) do not realize that by condemning one, but participating in the other, is hypocrisy.Organized burying is "gaming the system" just as much as organized digging is....or would be, if there actually was any organized digging.

I look forward to Kevin's confession on the next episode of Diggnation.
