djosephdesign.com — Many of us may are familiar with FreePay (formerly Gratis Marketing). And many of us probably even got a free iPod or other geeky toy for free from them. But their website went offline for "upgrades." Are these actually good upgrades, or could this mark the end of getting free things fairly easily?

are they still around?? Looking at their website you'd think they've gone into hibernation the past 6 months. I think that NY state lawsuit must have hurt them bigtime.

Yeah, they're still around, and they have added some new items in the last couple months. But after I get my Mac Mini, I won't bother to try for anything else unless I can get commitments from a dozen people *before* I register.

I got a free ipod too when the first free ipod craze started. Took awhile, several appeals, yada yada yada I eventually got it. Unfortunately I recently (accidentally) ran over my ipod with my car...ouch...

Apple will has a "car-accident replacement policy." They'll replace your iPod for only $399. :)It took me about five months to get the five referrals required for the 20 GB iPod. Man, if I'd waited a few more months, I could have gotten the video iPod for only three more referrals. Oh well. I sold that iPod anyway.
