The terrible drought they talked about in Illinois.. wasn't that all terrible. The only terrible thing was that no one could leave on their splinkers. :/
The 'dust bowl' was more a practice of poor farming methods than weather conditions. Sure, the weather helped, but only because people were not farming properly.
