military.com — The U.S. Navy has been unafraid of Iran's super-torpedo since it was the Soviet super-torpedo in the 1970s. This guy dicusses all of the flaws of Iran's super-torpedo, and why no one in the U.S. military cares about it.

Each time I read the news it's more depressing. As days advance, the world is getting crazier. I am sure that it's connected to the M0 epidemic described by Reciprocality's papers.I've, by the way, just submitted a story on those:"...This project began as a bit of practical industrial psychology, and ended up unfolding into an understanding of how most people in most human societies have a consistently distorted view of everything...." - Alan G Carterhttp://www.digg.com/science/The_Reciprocality_Project

I have a feeling that my uncle, who was captain of a US nuclear sub that did several tours of the Persian Gulf, would agree with the autor of the article here. Are these torpedos a threat? Sure, but one that the US submariners are trained to address. IF there were a confrontation in the Gulf, shipping would suffer losses at the hands of Iran's anti-shipping missile platforms, and the US might even lose some vessels or suffer significant casualties. However, joint Navy-Air Force operations would probably do a decent job of wiping land-based launchers out within a few weeks. The point is moot though, because the US isn't going into Iran. Period. We may have wargame plans, but we aren't going to use 'em.

We knew we'd fight Iran before we took over Afghanistan. We took Iraq in order to flank Iran on all sides. Who do you think is funding insurgency in Iraq? It's IRAN. Iran is not a poor country like Iraq and afghanistan. Who is it that really funds terrorism?

Why would US tanks be in Tel Aviv... Isreal is an american ally. Hell we may even let them have a first strike on Iran.

Don't forget, before Iran through out their "western-oriented" government the US helped throw out their democracy-oriented government, and kept it out for a good 40 years until our little puppet, the shah was deposed.Iranians may not be particularly happy with their theocracy, but they are probably less happy with the idea of the US meddling in their internal affairs, again.
