aljazeera.com — There is an interesting problem with selling Iran as "Nazi Germany". If Ahmadinejad really is Hitler, ready to commit genocide against Israel?s Jews as soon as he can get his hands on a nuclear weapon, why are some 25,000 Jews living peacefully in Iran and more than reluctant to leave despite repeated enticements from Israel and American Jews?

Happiness is subjective, I'm sure there are people who are not happy with their country who do not leave it (not unlike people who are unhappy with their job but stay for other reasons), and I'm sure there are people who are happy in their country and choose to leave it. This whole thing refers to a generalized idea of happiness, versus specific happiness, that is people can be happy about one thing and not about another, and only some of these things may result in them moving or staying. Another thing you forgot about from the article itself, Israel and American Jews have been trying to get Jews to leave Iran, the shrinking in population may in fact be a result of those efforts.

If you did some real research, you would know that it was the Iranian press that issued the translation "wiped off the map". The wire services picked it up from there. It's wasn't an invention of the "zionists".Incidentally, if you watch video of the rally, there are regular cheering chants of "death to Israel" from the crowd.

Ahmedinejad never said he wants to "wipe Israel off the map". He called for a regime change where the original inhabitants, the Palestinians, could return and have a say in what kind of state they lived in. The 'wiped off the map' was a mistranslation byt the IRNA, that was then disseminated and repeated in the international media; http://democracyrising.us/content/view/736/164

Amazing, "Lady". Your cognitive dissonance knows no bounds. Do you think anyone needs NUKES not to be peaceful? Check out any of the N wars going around the globe nowadays, none nuclear. Are they therefore peaceful? As to Iran, let's hear it from the mouth of the beast, shall we? http://www.iranfocus.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2684 - in his victory speech, ImADinnerJacket gives us these pearls: "The wave of the Islamic revolution will soon reach the entire world." Considering that Iran has been implicated by Argentinian tribunals in the AMA bombing in Buenos Aires, and that only yesterday Nasrallah declared he is a "soldier in the army of the ayatollah", hey, yes, Iran is indeed so peaceful. And it doesn't even need to attack anyone - they find others to do their biding.

yeah, sorry i cannot provide testimony... i was responding to his statement, not of the article. nicely researched response to my response of a response to someone else. all my "supposed friends" are from upper class families, by the way. internet cafes? yeah. right buddy. and we talk regularly about the middle east situation, and they do not have any problem with Israel. I am not going off of some article that I googled, simply the words of 6 dental students that I know quite well who live 20 feet from me.

There is no difference between the two other than national religion.

Ok, let me put this in very clear terms. My "assumed answer" is that after the Islamic Revolution life for the Jews in Iran got uncomfortable enough for most of them to leave. The evidence here is the fact that most of the Iranian Jews did indeed leave. The assumption here is that the majority of an ethnic group leaves a country because of discrimination, actual persecution, or the fear of persecution. This assumption is based on common sense and countless examples over centuries of history. Please show me one example when most of an entire minority ethnic group, which has resided in one place for centuries, just picks up and leaves for any other reason. My own bias has nothing to do with that, so stop spinning.

This article and it's description shell as much rubbish as the rest of aljazeera. There are organization like HIAS who have a committed mission of extracting Jewish captives of the Persian state by any means necessary because the Iranians even make it difficult to leave. It saddens me that such rubbish is dugg so much. I hope that Iran realizes how unreasonable they are being and those same lunatics who stand holding that evil man's hand denounce Jewish people everywhere and look upon the shoah (holocaust) as a blessing. They surely do not represent Jewish values.

Im one of the Jewish people from Iran,But we faced lots of problems ,Our Religious leaders are not allowed to tell the true to the Journalists and the Media ,why? Because there is no free speeching in Iran ,Iran is a Terror State based on Islam.Thats why a huge group of our population left Iran,Only 10,800 people which declare by some jewish organization and Iran's census society . I am not agree with that which we were happy in Iran ,We just didnt have economic problems.Dana שלום
