cnn.com — When Jon Bohmer sat down with his two little girls for a simple project they could work on together, he didn't realize they'd hit upon a solution to one of the world's biggest problems for just $5: A solar-powered oven.

Saeed Ahmed needs to stay in more. There is such a thing as the Internet, a brilliant way to share information. Try Youtube, Instructable or even everyones friend Google before typing up any more drivel like that. And by the way, who has the time to bother even Digging this?

There are also companies already distributing them to third world countries too.

Chill out, people. If you read the article, it says he won the contest because "Bohmer's invention on Thursday won the FT Climate Change Challenge, which sought to find and publicize the most innovative and practical solution to climate change." Saying, this organization wanted to find a solution. Who cares if he "invented" it. He was the one smart enough to present it to them. There are very few "original" ideas. In most cases, it's more a matter of an old idea being applied to a new problem or question that had not previously been asked.

Do you have any idea how long it would take to boil water with that thing? These things are cool, but solving the world's problems? Man that must have been a slow news day. I got a book on it that gives recipes and a how to on building one (<a class="user" href="http://www.spheralsolar.com/howdoessolarpowerwork.html).">http://www.spheralsolar.com/howdoessolarpowerwork. ...</a> Its a fun project for kids, but I was pretty disappointed with its performance and will probably stick with good ol' carbon burning propane for camping....
